Caged and scratching, talons
against chalkboard.
Bittersweet cacophony assaults
the auditory canal and tunnels
viciously into the cerebrum.
Cerebellum off-kilter from
tipsy serotonin;
the ugly sort of vomiting
drunk that leads to blackout and
blank stares;
because the brain is so consumed,
so petrified,
Every anxious thought amplified,
soothsaying sterilized.
Breath comes in shallow gasps like
the tide after a vociferating storm.
Clap your hands to your ears, scream
to block it out.
But to no avail;
the maze raises itself in stainless steel.
You are a prisoner
of your own mind.
